A grand total of 125 osprey babies fledged this year making it the most successful osprey nesting season since records started being kept back in 1979. Out of 133 nests, 78 were occupied. The US Fish and Wildlife Service has started issuing an annual pass offering free admission for active duty military and their dependents. The season for harvesting stone crab claws in Florida ends today. These creatures are a valuable and renewable resource in our area. The first annual Ding Darling Tarpon Tournament was a resounding success last weekend with a total of 39 tarpon caught. Two teams were tied with 5 fish as time wound down, but the Doc Fords team hooked up right before 4 o’clock and were able to successfully land the fish to win the tournament and the $6,560 first place money. ...
