The first annual Ding Darling Tarpon Tournament was a resounding success last weekend with a total of 39 tarpon caught. Two teams were tied with 5 fish as time wound down, but the Doc Fords team hooked up right before 4 o’clock and were able to successfully land the fish to win the tournament and the $6,560 first place money. Team Sand Pebble came in second, Team Rush third, R.S. Walsh Landscaping was fourth, and Yamaha took fifth. Top female angler was Debbie Powers with the Fishin Divas team. It was a gorgeous day for fishing with sun and calm seas and 39 boats participated. All are looking forward to a rematch next year. Ding Darling raiseded money for the wildlife preserve through sponsorships and a silent auction. A good time was had by all!
