Stone Crab Season

The season for harvesting stone crab claws in Florida ends today.  These creatures are a valuable and renewable resource in our area.  Only the claws are harvested and the crab is then tossed back into the ocean and his claws will regenerate, unlike blue crabs where the entire crab is taken.  The season runs mid October to mid May so unless you have some of the tasty claws stashed in your freezer, you are out of luck until this fall.
