SHELL MUSEUM TURNS 20!

In celebration of their 20th birthday, the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum will offer free admission from 10:00am to 5:00pm Saturday November 14th.  Events planned for the day include arts and crafts, scavenger hunts and live tank demonstrations.  Snacks will be provided by Bailey’s General Store.  The celebration concludes with an open house on Wednesday November 18th from 5:30pm to 7:oopm. ... Sanibel Movie

David Carter, a Sanibel resident and TV producer, is producing a film titled The Top 20 Things To Do on Sanibel-Captiva.  So far he has filmed in Ding Darling, at the Sanibel Lighthouse, and on the Sanibel bike path. He hopes to have the film completed by this summer. Isaac

The storm stayed at tropical wind speeds while off our coast so we had no major problems with the storm.  Most Sanibel businesses were closed on Monday, but reopened on Tuesday.  This storm really covered a huge area; we were still getting gusty winds and rain last night, but the sun is shining today and things are back to normal. ... Owl Update

    Two weeks ago the adult screech owl left the box.  Soon after we saw a baby owl sticking his head out.  I assume the adult came back at night to feed the baby, but now they have both flown the coop.  It gave us some good photo ops while they were there. Read More »
