Tropical Storm Debby Impact
Although the storm is far from us we are getting quite a bit of gusty winds and intermittent rain. The south west winds are forcing more water into the Bay which is then washing up on shore. Canal levels are very high with many docks under water. We are lucky though as there doesn’t appear to be any major damage. However, the turtle nests on the beaches may be washed out from the high tides. This started out as a banner year for the nesting sea turtles, but I ‘m afraid this will have a detrimental impact on the number of successful hatchlings this year.
Another impact from the storm is that no wind insurance can be issued while any part of the state of Florida is under a tropical storm or hurricane watch. Our scheduled Wednesday closing is in limbo until the watches are lifted…very frustrating!
