We are in the middle of nesting season which runs from May until October and numbers are way up over last year. According to SCCF, there have been 274 nests on Sanibel with 98 hatches so far this year, compared to 156 nests last year with 52 hatches for the same timeframe. The numbers are up on Captiva as well with 76 nests and 39 hatches this year compared to 63 nests and 26 hatches last year.
