Sanibel City Budget

Kudos to the Sanibel city council for managing to tighten their budget and reduce the tax millage rate this year.  Unlike Lee County who has used up their reserve money to balance their budget for two years now, Sanibel was able to actually add money to their reserve fund, which is an important fund needed during hurricane season and other unplanned disasters.  The city kept salaries flat and have reduced city staff from 142 in 2007 to 114 in 2013.  They did vote to increase sewer rates by 1%.  Once property appraisal values begin to rise it is hoped the city income will increase and several projects that have been put on hold due to lack of funding can be revisited.
