Sanibel and Captiva Turtle Nesting Stats

Turtle nesting season runs through the summer months May through October and it has gotten off to a slow start this year.  Here are the numbers as of May 17, 2013:

Sanibel East End – 1 nest

Sanibel West End – 6 nests

Captiva – 4 nests

For the same time frame in 2012, the numbers were

Sanibel East End – 3 nests

Sanibel West End – 28 nests

Captiva – 9 nests.

Hopefully things will pick up soon.
