Hurricane Watch
It has been a slow hurricane season for us so far this year, but that appears to be changing. We are keeping an eye on Isaac who is still a Tropical Storm south of Haiti, but is forecast to intensify after it passes over Cuba. We are in the 5 day “cone of probability”, the new phrase weather forecasters now use when they predict where the storm may go. Although modern technology has given them an improved ability to forecast the path, there are still a lot of things that can affect the direction and intensity of the storms, including high/low pressures, ocean temperatures, and land mass it crosses over. Those of us who live here year round have a healthy respect for hurricanes, but we also have been through them before and now how to prepare our properties.
