SANIBEL FISHING PIER RENOVATION COMPLETED

The Sanibel Fishing Pier officially reopened a few weeks ago after a 3 month extensive rehabilitation project. New decking, railings, a covered area with bench seating and fish cleaning stations were installed and should provide many years of enjoyment for local fisherman and visitors alike. Read More »


National Seashell Day

Sanibel celebrated it’s inaugural National Seashell Day June 20th, 2016. National Seashell Day was created to educate the public about mollusks, the creatures who create and live in seashells. ABC’s Good Morning America interviewed The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum Executive Director Dorrie Hipschman who shared information about the museum and did a live shell demonstration. SHELL MUSEUM TURNS 20!

In celebration of their 20th birthday, the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum will offer free admission from 10:00am to 5:00pm Saturday November 14th.  Events planned for the day include arts and crafts, scavenger hunts and live tank demonstrations.  Snacks will be provided by Bailey’s General Store.  The celebration concludes with an open house on Wednesday November 18th from 5:30pm to 7:oopm. ... Sanibel – 40 years old – Nov 4th, 2014

Sanibel residents are welcome to attend a reception celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the City of Sanibel’s incorporation to be held at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 4th, 2014, at City Hall, 800 Dunlop Road. The reception is being hosted by the City of Sanibel Historical Preservation Committee.  Sanibel incorporated in 1974 by a vote of the citizens so come celebrate. Read More »
